    Made his debut in Super Rugby for the Chiefs against the Highlanders in Hamilton in April 2006, won Air New Zealand Cup with Waikato later that year and skippered them in two successive finals, against Canterbury in 2010 and 2011

    Won the 2012 Champions Cup with Leinster when they beat Ulster and played in the final of PRO12 against the Ospreys the next week before joining Connacht.

    A replacement for the Wolfhounds against the Saxons in Cork in January 2015 but injury delayed his test debut until the world cup warm up match v Scotland in August.

    Has played in all 10 test matches since his debut, including all 5 games at RWC2015 and made his RBS 6 Nations bow against Wales in Dublin in round 1.

    Only one player has been older on his Championship debut for Ireland, Davy Tweed in 1995.
